Leaf Miner

There are a number of different pests that drive "mines" through the middle of leaves, eating as they go, and leaving tracks of dead cells behind them. They don't do a lot of damage to the plant, but they make them look unsightly.
Several of the leaf miners are in fact caterpillars of moths - the example being the citrus leaf miner. However most are the larvae of flies called "Lyriomyza" . They are difficult to tell apart, but are all about 2mm long, and the females have an obvious yellow spot on their back.

We offer two controls for Leaf Miner - Dacnus sibira for early season control and Diglyphus isaea for late season control. Some growers would just use both but they are relatively expensive so we would suggest that gardeners simply chose Dacnus for April to May, and then if there was a severe outbreak after that choose Diglyphus.
